As more and more U.S. iPhone users will be fed with the AT & T, a few seriously began to consider Apple's iPod Touch as a full time phone.
Trouble is, the Touch has no mobile radio. But couple this with a personal WiFi router, such as Verizon's MiFi, and a service such as Skype, and the Touch may be a viable full time VOIP phone.
CoM reader Alex Bowles' contract, AT & T in January to run seriously, he saw his replacement with iPhone and iPod Touch Verizon's MiFi. Here is what he found.
Verizon's mobile, battery-powered hotspot MiFi can share a high speed connection with multiple cell devices via WiFi. It's in the U.S. sold through Verizon for $ 100. (Requires a two-year contract and a monthly plan costs $ 40 or $ 60 - 250MB or 5GB of data, respectively.)
Pair it with an iPod Touch running Skype, and you have a VOIP phone, plus a high speed, mobile net connection for your laptop (AT & T still does not allow iPhone users to chain their laptops to their iPhones ).
